  • Leather Care
    • Moisturize: Occasionally apply a sheepskin conditioner to keep the leather supple and prevent it from drying out.
    • Test Products: Always test any cleaning or conditioning product on a small, hidden area before full application to ensure it doesn’t damage the leather or fur.
  • Fur Care
    • Brush Fur: Gently brush the fur side to keep it fluffy and untangled. Use a fur brush or a wide-toothed comb.
    • Avoid Crushing: When storing, make sure the fur is not crushed or pressed against other garments to maintain its loft.

These tips should help maintain the quality and longevity of your Toscana sheepskin coat.

  • Avoid Excessive Heat: Keep the jacket away from direct heat sources (e.g., radiators, direct sunlight) to prevent drying and cracking.
  • Minimize Exposure to Water: Avoid wearing in heavy rain. If the jacket gets wet, wipe off excess moisture and let it air dry naturally away from heat.

Cleaning

  • Spot Clean: Use a damp cloth and mild soap solution for minor stains. Dab gently and avoid soaking the leather.
  • Use Leather Cleaner: For more thorough cleaning, use a specialized leather cleaner according to the product instructions.
  • Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Do not use household cleaners, ammonia, or bleach on the leather.

Conditioning

  • Leather Conditioner: Apply a leather conditioner every few months to keep the leather soft and supple. Follow product instructions carefully.
  • Test First: Always test the conditioner on a small, hidden area before full application to ensure it doesn’t discolor or damage the leather.

Storage

  • Cool, Dry Place: Store in a well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
  • Padded Hanger: Use a broad, padded hanger to maintain the jacket’s shape.
  • Breathable Garment Bag: Store in a breathable garment bag (avoid plastic) to protect from dust while allowing air circulation.

Handling

  • Avoid Heavy Bags: Do not carry heavy bags over your shoulder while wearing the jacket to prevent stretching or indentations.

Water and Stain Protection

  • Waterproofing Spray: Apply a leather protector spray to add a water-resistant layer. Test on a small area first.
  • Wipe Spills Immediately: Blot any liquid spills immediately with a dry cloth to prevent staining.

Dealing with Wrinkles

  • Steam Gently: Use a steamer to remove light wrinkles. Keep the steamer at a safe distance to avoid overheating the leather.
  • Avoid Ironing: Do not iron the leather directly. If needed, use a cloth over the leather and set the iron to a low heat.

Odor Control

  • Air Out: Let the jacket air out regularly to prevent odors. Hang it in a well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight.
  • Deodorizing Spray: Use a leather-safe deodorizing spray if necessary.

Repair and Professional Care

  • Seek Professional Help: For major stains, deep scratches, or structural damage, take the jacket to a professional leather specialist.
  • Stitch Repairs: If seams or stitching come undone, have them repaired by a professional to maintain the jacket’s integrity.

Special Considerations

  • Avoid Adhesive Labels: Do not attach stickers or adhesive labels to the leather as they can damage the finish.
  • No Sharp Objects: Be cautious with sharp objects around the jacket to avoid punctures or tears.

These tips will help you maintain the quality and extend the life of your leather jacket.
